UVic writing students probe natural resource issues

In addition to covering provincial politics, I'm also an educator - teaching basic and advanced journalism courses at the University of Victoria's department of writing. As part of the latter course, I assigned my students to dig deep into environmental and natural resource issues in British Columbia. Some took a look into natural gas development in the north. Others probed BC Hydro Corp. And there were also investigations into the government's climate change policies and the challenges facing the cattle industry. So I'm very pleased to announce the fruits of that labour will be published over the next few weeks in The Tyee. The first, by Laura Dennis, takes a look at what British Columbia can learn from the laws in Wyoming that govern fracking.
