Heed's committee loss is Bennett's gain

One provincial Liberal legislator's loss is another's gain. Earlier this month, Vancouver-Fraserview MLA Kash Heed recent appointment to the provincial cabinet's environment and land use committee was quietly rescinded. At the same time, East Kootenay MLA Bill Bennett was given a seat on that committee. Mr. Bennett previously served as the Liberal's energy minister. But he was expelled from cabinet and later caucus last year for publicly criticizing then premier Gordon Campbell. Mr. Bennett rejoined caucus on April 5. The environment and land use committee is charged with establishing and recommending programs "designed to foster increased public concern and awareness of the environment" among other responsibilities.
