Families First agenda makes it into cabinet

During her campaign for the provincial Liberal leadership, Christy Clark had a platform called The Families First Agenda for Change. Now that she's won that leadership, Ms. Clark has established a cabinet committee on Families First. It's unclear what that committee - which is being chaired by Children and Family Development Minister Mary McNeil - will do. But her platform, Ms. Clark promised her "government will approach decisions through the lens of Families First. When a decision comes before cabinet, we will ask: how does this affect B.C. families?" The vice-chair of the committee is Margaret MacDiarmid. Ms. MacDiarmid was most recently British Columbia's education minister. But she didn't make into Ms. Clark's cabinet, instead being appointed parliamentary secretary for seniors.
