Dix endorser switches sides

Provincial New Democrat leadership candidate Adrian Dix has lost one of his endorsers. The Vancouver-Kingsway MLA rolled out Port Moody councillor Bob Elliot's support last week. But, according to a news release distributed today by competitor Mike Farnworth's campaign, Mr. Elliot is now supporting the Port Coquitlam MLA. The following is a complete copy of that release.

TRI-CITY MUNICIPAL LEADERS LINE UP BEHIND MIKE FARNWORTH

(Port Coquitlam) - The Mike Farnworth leadership campaign today released a list of 8 current elected officials from the Tri-City area who are endorsing the Port Coquitlam MLA's bid to become the leader of the BCNDP.

"Since Mike was first elected as a Port Coquitlam City Councillor in 1983, he has worked hard for the best interests of people in the Tri-Cities," Port Coquitlam Councillor Glenn Pollock says. "He carried the same diligence and commitment to his work when he was in government, in Cabinet, and the official opposition. I have no doubt he is the best choice to lead the BCNDP."

Port Moody Councillor and former Port Moody-Westwood NDP candidate Karen Rockwell agrees. "Mike's leadership on issues as diverse as protecting the environment, economic diversification, and fighting for social housing has proven he's ready to lead not just the party, but the Province. And I look forward to the day when he's Premier!"

"I'm honoured to have the support of so many of my colleagues from the Tri-Cities," says Farnworth. "Many of them encouraged me to get into the race, and they have made my campaign that much stronger by announcing their support today."

The following is the full list of sitting Tri-City elected officials now endorsing Mike Farnworth:

Barrie Lynch, Councillor, Coquitlam
Sherry Carroll, Councillor, Port Coquitlam
