Some of provincial New Democrat leader Carole James's loyalists appear to be softening their hard line against the party's dissidents. Less than a hour ago, BC New Democrats United - a Facebook page created as a show of support for Ms. James - announced it would soon be voluntarily shutting down. This, as private discussions take place to resolve the leadership crisis within the party. "Emotions are running high, but it is clear that all of the people taking part in these debates care deeply about our province and the values on which our movement is based," read a posting on the page's wall. "Regardless of the outcome, it is important that we maintain an ability to work together toward building the province that we all want to live in." At publication time, BC New Democrats United has been liked by 238 people. By comparison, the Progressives for BC NDP Renewal - a page created in support of the dissidents - has been liked by 222 people.
