Nothing but air

Christy Clark won't have to worry about past Canadian Broadcast Standards Council decisions if she decides to run for the provincial Liberal leadership. A search of the council's rulings includes just one case referencing the CKNW talk show host - and only tangentially so. The case concerned a controversial editorial on immigrants by commentator Bruce Allen which was broadcast by the station on September 13, 2007. Ms. Clark discussed that controversy with Mr. Allen on her show eight days later, criticizing Mr. Allen's opinion but supporting his right to air it. The council found the former cabinet minister "provided strong balance" during that segment, applauding her taking the "extra effort" to do so.
