BC Fed strike averted

The British Columbia Federation of Labour's senior employees will soon have a new collective agreement. Last Thursday, United Steelworkers Local 2009 - which represents the federation's directors - served 72-hours strike notice. But, in an interview with Public Eye, the local's inside guard Les Veale stated, "We have reached a tentative agreement with the fed." Mr. Veale said that agreement was ratified last night. The development comes just before the federation's annual convention, which is scheduled to get underway on Monday.
