Put a cap on it

Yesterday, the provincial Liberal executive endorsed changing the way the party elects its leader to a preferential ballot system where the results will be weighted "to ensure each electoral district is counted equally." That change must be ratified by delegates attending an extraordinary convention, which has been scheduled for February 12. But two changes that don't require ratification have already been made. Public Eye has learned the spending cap for leadership candidates has been increased to $450,000 from $75,000. And the executive is requiring those candidates pay a $25,000 entrance fee.
