Penner puts his priorities in place

"I have made up my mind and today I can announce that, yes, I am running...running away from the idea of seeking the leadership. Stop the presses!" That's what Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Minister Barry Penner quipped today when Public Eye asked if he'll be running to replace Gordon Campbell as head of the provincial Liberals. "My wife and I have a baby coming. Baby Penner is due in February," he explained. "So, in addition to the ministry of aboriginal relations and reconciliation - which I'm still busy learning about - I also have on my mind a fairly momentous occasion that's only a few months away and that's the birth of our first child."
