Just over 13 minutes: that's how long Premier Gordon Campbell spoke with reporters about today's cabinet realignment. As such, significant questions surrounding that announcement have yet to be answered. For example, the government has now created a ministry that's responsible for natural resource regulation, authorization and permitting. But natural resource policy making will remain the purview of other ministries. So what will that mean in practice for affected industries and the environment? In addition, there's also uncertainty about the government's decision to divide responsibility for post-secondary institutions between two ministries - one of which will oversee universities and the other colleges. Perhaps these and other questions will be answered during the premier's televised speech on Wednesday. But it seems more likely that some kind of technical briefing might be needed.
