Popham surprised by Simpson's expulsion

Earlier, we noted provincial New Democrat Saanich South MLA Lana Popham hadn't responded to media requests for comment about party leader Carole James decision to expel Bob Simpson. But, in an interview broadcast yesterday with CFAX's Al Ferraby, Ms. Popahm said, "Would I like him back in the caucus, yeah, absolutely. But, I can't speak for anybody else. And, like I said, the, the caucus format is where we need to discuss those issues." The legislator also said she was surprised by Mr. Simpson's expulsion. "And I instantly felt that loss because I felt MLA Simpson has a lot of input for us and he worked very hard. And it was surprising and it was shocking and I felt quite sad about it."
