Earlier, we noted Stephen Bellringer was appointed to BC Hydro Corp.'s board of directors last month. But this isn't the first time he's overseen the Crown corporation. Mr. Bellringer was among nine individuals named to that board on September 25, 2001 after the Liberals fired BC Hydro's existing directors and replaced them with their own choices. This, according to The Vancouver Sun's Chris Nuttall-Smith. But, in late 2007, BC Hydro's then chair Mossadiq Umedaly launched a board renewal process that included assessing its "overall competencies." This, according to the Crown corporation's fiscal 2008/09 annual report. "As a result of this activity and the Board's rotation plan, two Directors stepped down" - including Mr. Bellringer. But Mr. Umedaly has since resigned. And BC Hydro's president and chief executive officer is now David Cobb, who worked with Mr. Bellringer at Orca Bay Sports and Entertainment Ltd.
