The province's auditor general John Doyle has more proof of something the media has always known - the public has penchant for stories about public sector salaries and benefits. According to Mr. Doyle's most recent annual report, his investigation into the executive compensation arrangements at Crown corporations was downloaded 1,148 times. That's more than any other report produced by the auditor general during the past fiscal year.

Not hard to understand when such salaries leak out. Most folks were shocked to find a few folks looking after BC Rail for example made a large amount of money when they had no trains but some real estate. Finding out the BC Ferries wages at the top made the Minister get into the act and reduce the perks. Oh sure BC Ferries is supposed to be a private outfit but the taxpauers put big money into that operation too.
