The British Columbia Innovation Council splashed out $5,000 per month on a government relations firm to lobby the California government, Public Eye has learned. The council's marketing and communications director Lin Kishore said Government Strategies Inc. was hired in August 2008 under a contract that lasted until July 2009. Ms. Kishore said most of the company's work surrounding greenhouse gas vehicle emissions standards. Asked why that contract is no longer in effect, the spokesperson stated, "We, as an organization, are no longer focusing on international partnership development. So we're very, very, very focused on just talent development and commercialization - as we were before - but less on international partnerships to get us there."
