Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources Minister Blair Lekstrom's top political aide has been hired as a senior government affairs advisor with a major oil and gas company, Public Eye has learned. Natalie Poole-Moffatt, who has been in that office since December 13, 2005, will now be working for Apache Corp. in the firm's Calgary office. Apache owns 51 percent of the planned liquefied natural gas export terminal to be located at Bish Cove, near the Port of Kitimat. In an email, a ministry spokesperson stated Mr. Lekstrom and Ms. Poole-Moffatt "have agreed that she is to have no professional contact with ministry officials or the minister's office for a period of one year." The spokesperson also stated the former aide is "bound by oath to keep government information confidential, even after employment."
