Northern lights

Tony Penikett is among those the provincial New Democrats have consulted about their upcoming Our Province Our Future initiative, Public Eye has learned. Mr. Penikett was Yukon's premier between 1985 and 1992. He then served as a deputy minister in British Columbia when the New Democrats were in power, later being rumoured as possible successor to interim party leader Joy MacPhail. Mr. Penikett is presently a Vancouver-based mediator. Our Province Our Future will kick-off this coming Friday with a one-day conference at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver. That conference is part of an effort to consulting with "concerned business leaders" about how to "combine a forward-looking business climate with a more equitable society." Mr. Penikett didn't return a phone call from Public Eye placed earlier this week.
