Royal Dutch treat?

Last week, Edelman Vancouver announced it had hired Plutonic Power Corporation Inc. corporate communications director Elisha McCallum as its new corporate and public affairs vice-president. But also newsworthy is the work Ms. McCallum, who has been with Plutonic since July 2007, will be doing for that communications firm. According to a news release, she'll "play a leadership in creating a global Edelman centre of excellence hubbed in the Vancouver office in the area of public engagement and social license to operate for companies and organizations in the natural resource and energy sectors." But Edelamn Vancouver's general manager Paul Welsh wasn't ready to give specifics about that centre "because I don't have the meat on the bones of it yet," encouraging us to phone back in the next six to eight weeks. The firm's existing clients include Apache Canada Ltd., Canpotex Ltd., Kitimat LNG Ltd., Royal Dutch Shell plc, as well as "BC-based independent power producers."
