Powell appointment "completely separate from his role as president and CEO of London Drugs"

Earlier today, we reported London Drugs Ltd. president and chief executive officer G. Wynne Powell would be among those overseeing the organization responsible for the Campbell administration's controversial new patient-focused healthcare funding initiative. But, in a message posted on Public Eye, company spokesperson Wendy Hartley stressed Mr. Powell's "volunteer advisory positions within the health and education ministries of the current and past provincial governments are personal and completely separate from his role as president and CEO of London Drugs and its subsidiary companies." She also added London Drugs and London Air Services Ltd. contribution's to the Liberals resulted from "purchasing tickets to speaking engagements and sporting events" and that those firms have also made donations to other parties when they've been in power.
