Third time lucky

Jeannie Kanakos is the latest provincial Liberal to receive a board appointment. Ms. Kanakos, who ran unsuccessfully against New Democrat Guy Gentner in the last two elections, has been quietly named a BC Land Title and Survey Authority director. Her biography on the government's board resourcing and development Website doesn't mention her partisan background. But it does mention Ms. Kanakos is presently a senior consultation specialist at Golder Associates Inc., where she is responsible for First Nations consultations. She is also a former Delta councillor, having given up her seat to run for the Liberals in Delta South back in 2005.

It pays well to be a failed candidate for Gordo's team.

Is she replacing someone who has left the position, or is this just a patronage appointment to reward a team player? I think this should be clarified before one can offer an opinion.

I guess the other question would be whether she has the qualifications to do the job.
