Last year, Finance Minister Colin Hansen's $4,000 pre-budget personal donation to the Salvation Army purchased 100 pairs of shoes for needy children. By comparison, this year's $3,000 pre-budget donation to B.C. Wheelchair Sports Association will mean its rugby team can purchase three pairs of Spinergy Inc.'s top-of-the-line sports wheels - which have a suggested retail price of $953.25 and are favoured by murderball players in Canada. But why did the finance minister decide to contribute $1,000 less this year? Well, this is what he had to say when we put that question to him following today's government caucus meeting.
