A golden moment

A rah-rah speech in support of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games led to an awkward moment for the provincial New Democrats. After the prime minister addressed the legislature, the premier got up to talk about how those games would be a "golden moment" for the province. He then ended that speech by chanting "Go, Canada, go!" His caucus joined in, giving him a standing ovation. But, over on the other side of the aisle, New Democrat MLAs didn't seem to know what to do. Do we chant too? Do we applaud with the Liberals? Some did, some didn't. Although many eventually took their feet. But not before their confusion became apparent to all those watching from the legislature's public galleries.
