As we earlier reported, former Reform leader Preston Manning's think tank put on a training program for campaign managers this past weekend at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort and Spa. But it wasn't just right-wingers who were enrolled in that course - which welcomes those from other political perspectives. In an interview, Victoria federal election candidate Jared Giesbrecht confirmed he and two other Green Party members were also in attendance. "It is officially a non-partisan organization. Although it ends up being a de facto a training camp for the Conservative Party...So they were quite surprised we were there."

As for why he and his colleagues went, Mr. Giesbrecht said, "Everyone knows the Green Party is fairly young and it's not full of a lot of professional politicians or longtime politicians. So the more training we can get about campaigning the better. This is things about how to communicate more effectively our message, how to run an organization on the ground in a local campaign and it's all good stuff for local campaigning. So they have their conservative-bent - it mostly comes out in their policy examples. But, when it comes down to it, it's just really learning how to organize people better, to get people involved, to build your volunteer-base, to mobilize them - all this stuff we can learn from."
