A big climb down today from the British Columbia Nurses' Union. In a bulletin quietly posted on its Website, the labour group advised its withdrawn a controversial Labour Relations Board application to represent licensed practical nurses who presently belong to the Hospital Employees' Union and the British Columbia Government Employees' Union. But it hasn't abandoned its belief "that all nurses should be in one union."

High time they backed away from that ill advised course of action. They are part of a Labour coalition which states - no raiding - which is exactly what that was. Perhaps BCNU members and activists should question the wisdom of their Executive ??
The issue will return since Vancouver Coastal Health intends to remove RNs from extended seniors' care and replace them with LPNs. Additionally, they plan to reduce staffing levels by 1/3.
