Here's some more news about the $500,000 cap on provincial funding for local fuel treatments projects: in an email, a ministry of forests and range spokesperson advised Public Eye that measure was first proposed by the government's fuels management working group last fall. Its details have yet to be finalized. But, until then, communities applying for more than $500,000 may be asked to scale back their request. "Options would include breaking an extremely large project down into yearly increments or seek other funding sources to supplement the total project cost above 500K," the spokesperson stated.
