Size isn't everything

Federal Liberal candidate Ross Rebagliati said today he was joking when he told a British journalist the riding he's running in is "roughly half the size of England." In fact, according to Elections Canada, that country is more than 12 times the size of Okanagan-Coquihalla. Mr. Rebagliati made the comparison in an interview with the Daily Telegraph's Ian Chadband. But, speaking with Public Eye, the Olympic snowboarder said, it was meant as a joking reference to the riding's "massive" size. "It was a little bit of sarcasm, humour," he said. But the newspaper chose to take the joke "literally."
