Recently, former Canadian prime minister Jean Chretien has become increasingly involved with the Canadian mining industry. Five months ago, Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. - which has a number of Asia Pacific projects and interests - appointed the Grit warhorse as its senior international advisor. And he's listed as being one of seven special guests expected to attend Mineral Exploration Roundup 2010, the world's premier technical mineral exploration conference. So one wonders what Mr. Chretien's position is on Grit parliamentarian John McKay legislative initiative to "ensure that corporations engaged on mining, oil or gas activities and receiving support from the Government of Canada act in a manner consistent with international environmental best practices and with Canada's commitments to international human rights standards." Just asking'!
