The finance ministry's second quarterly report for fiscal 2009/10 might not get the scrutiny in deserves. The minister responsible, Colin Hansen, will be making that report public tomorrow morning, having scheduled a technical briefing and news conference for 11:30 at the legislature. But that's the same day the New Democrats' biennial convention gets underway in Vancouver. Which means some press gallery members (including your humble organ) will be in transit and unable to attend the presentation. And those who aren't in transit may find their attention divided between Minister Hansen's news conference and children and youth representative Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond's appearance before the select standing committee on finance and government services - which will take place between 11:00 and 12:15.
