In August, Forests and Range Minister Pat Bell told reporters his ministry was considering "doing a careful analysis at the conclusion of this (fire) season to determine what's gone well, what we can improve on." That analysis is now underway. But, this morning, his New Democrat critic Norm Macdonald asked Auditor General John Doyle to examine the Campbell administration's progress in implementing the recommendations on wildfire preparedness included in the five-year-old Filmon Report. This, following a Public Eye investigation that revealed dozens of local government's don't have wildfire protection plans. So what does Minister Bell, who has launched an initiative to accelerate the completion of those plans, think about Mr. Macdonald's request? Well, here's what he had to say when we spoke with him following question period.
