Manning the trenches

Former Reform party leader Preston Manning's think tank is considering holding one of its campaign manager training programs in Victoria. But you won't have to be a capital "c" Conservative to attend that seminar. "We're a non-partisan organization. Anybody is welcome. We don't have a ton of people who aren't at least small 'c' conservatives coming out. But we're certainly not turning people away from parties that everyone else isn't from," said the Manning Centre for Building Democracy's practical politics program coordinator Fraser Macdonald.

"We're in the planning stages. It's not 100 percent go at this point," Mr. Macdonald added. "But it's looking positive. And there's a fair amount of interest."

He said the deciding factor will be getting enough people interested to "justify the cost of us flying a bunch of staff out there."

The school will cost $300 to $350 to attend.
