Provincial New Democrat criticisms about executive pay and transparency at British Columbia Ferry Services Inc. and British Columbia Railway Co. didn't lead question period today. But energy, mines and petroleum critic John Horgan's quip that executives for the railway-less company don't deserve compensation packages totalling $1.2 million - even though they "may have a miniature train set in the boardroom" - seemed to catch the press gallery's attention. Here's Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Shirley Bond taking questions about that issue, as well as whether the two Crown corporations should be subject to freedom of information requests. But what caught the attention of most reporters was this quote on BC Rail: "Is there a role to continue this particular Crown corporation? We're asking those quesions now. We're doing that work as we speak."
