Divided interests?

Last month, Christopher Causton was acclaimed as the federal Liberals' candidate in Victoria. But he also has two years left in his term as Oak Bay's mayor. So what would Mr. Causton say to those who would suspect him of abusing that post to further his partisan interests? "I am very mindful of that," said yesterday on Public Eye Radio. "And, as I say, my job is to serve my community first and foremost and also to serve the region on the various boards I sit on. And if I ever found myself not committed to the region as a whole and to my community as a whole, I would have second thoughts. But, as long as I'm true to myself on this, I'm comfortable." Mr. Causton will be running against incumbent New Democrat parliamentarian Denise Savoie.
