A whale of a tale

Last year, we reported the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre - a registered charity that bills itself as "apolitical" - donated free tickets to a provincial Liberal fundraiser. According to Elections British Columbia, that didn't constitute a violation of the Election Act. But, according to the the party's most recent financial report, the aquarium also made $700 in prohibited contributions to the Liberals on March 4, 2006 and September 15, 2006. Those contributions were returned on March 20, 2009. The aquarium hasn't yet responded to a request for comment placed yesterday.
