Brar's big night

In the first five months of 2009, the provincial New Democrats' biggest fundraising event was a $100 per ticket dinner headlined by then Surrey-Panorama Ridge legislator Jagrup Brar. According to a review of Elections British Columbia filings, that dinner - which happened on January 30, 2009 at The Grand Taj Banquet Hall - netted $65,368.66. Coming in second and third were dinners for fellow legislators Harry Bains and Raj Chouhan. Those events raised $45,712.75 and $30,923.39 each. Earlier, we reported Indo-Canadian-owned firms contributed $60,860 out of the New Democrats' $221,592.86 corporate donation total. The following is a complete copy of the notice for Mr. Brar's fundraiser.
