A teachable moment?

The province's universities are talking up their economic credentials. Last week, The Vancouver Sun published a summary of a paper by University of Victoria president David Turpin and history professor Eric Sager discussing how those institutions are the "engines of economic innovation in the new knowledge economy." That paper will be presented tomorrow at the second of four economic summits hosted by the Business Council of British Columbia. And then, seven days later, University of British Columbia president Stephen Toope is scheduled to release a "brand new study" which "shows that the economic impact of UBC on the B.C. economy is of an order several times higher than generally believed."
