Former Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative MLA Patrick Hunt looks like he wants to take another shot at elected office. But this time he's doing it on the other side of the country. Mr. Hunt, who sat in that province's legislator between 1978 and 1981, has taken out papers to run for the federal Conservative nomination in Victoria. Our understanding is Mr. Hunt, who was the Reform candidate in that riding during the 1993 election, is one of four hopefuls to have done so to-date. The riding is presently held by New Democrat Denise Savoie.

Another right of center politician heading west. Now we have two parachute club members out this way. The lady from the Greens trying to run in Saanich and the Islands, and now this guy. My MP is Denise Savoie, she works hard for the folks in her riding and I figure she will still be the MP for a long time into the future. She did her apprentiship right here in Victoria on council and the area is well served by her.
I would like to respond to the individual who wrote the comment above:
He is not immediately from Nova Scotia, he has lived in Victoria for a long time and participated in local businesses here in Victoria. He works in the technology sector. He has worked and lived in Victoria for quite some time now, he is definitely no parachute candidate.
If you still maintain he is a parachute candidate, then the same can be said of Denise Savoie who is from Manitoba. Damn I dislike all those socialists from the eastern prairies parachuting into BC.
But now, we are all Canadians and it should not matter from where in the country we have come and where we choose to make home.
Serving on a City Council is not an apprenticeship of any sorts, it is a part time position. Though it shows the mentality of the NDP using it for building career NDP politicians who can't get a real world job.
