The biggest money quote coming out of today's budget lock-up came when Finance Minister Colin Hansen revealed he knew provincial government revenues were under pressure during the election. This, in response to a question from CTV's Jim Beatty. Broadcast journalists, along with The Tyee's Andrew Macleod, have already reported on that revelation. There could have been only one explanation for the February budget - other than truthfully admitting they fudged it. That would have been that the entire finance staff went on retreat for three or four months to prepare the budget and had no access to to outside news and information.

That would be more believable that the current spin.
