"I see that Mr. Veniez was fired by a Crown corporation, and it's hard to get fired by a Crown corporation. I don't think people in this riding want the controversial path." That's what West-Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country Conservative parliament John Weston told The Powell River Peak's Laura Walz in response to news former Ridley Terminal Inc. chair Daniel Veniez is considering making a run for the Grit nomination in that riding. "My first response was that voters in this riding at a minimum are interested in avoiding the scandal and disgrace that accompanied recent Liberal representative Blair Wilson, and there's some unfortunate analogies in controversy," he added. So what does Mr. Veniez have to say about those charges?
In an email sent to supporters yesterday, he stated, "my plan is to ignore Weston completely in the coming days and weeks, and focus my sights directly on Harper, his government, and the Conservative Party. Weston's comments vividly illustrates the point that these people are cynical cheap shot artists with no interest in fact-based discussion - on anything - that doesn't involve close adult supervision."
"The good news is that we are smoking these folks out and we yet to have a nominated candidate," he continued. "That means only one thing; They are spooked! And that's terrific news"
The following is a complete copy of the aforementioned email, which included a copy of The Powell River Peak article.

Friends:
Please check this out. Should anyone be interested in the documented facts on the Ridley matter, please let me know and I'll be happy to send you material and discuss it with you.
If you agree, my plan is to ignore Weston completely in the coming days and weeks, and focus my sights directly on Harper, his government, and the Conservative Party. Weston's comments vividly illustrates the point that these people are cynical cheap shot artists with no interest in fact-based discussion - on anything - that doesn't involve close adult supervision. It also highlights what kind of people and what kind of government this is. The honourable and confident person's reaction would be this: "I wish Mr. Veniez the best of luck and look forward to debating our respective visions for Canada". That's too much to expect of these folks.
The issue in this election will be Stephen Harper's and the Conservative government's record and ideology, versus Michael Ignatieff's and the Liberal Party's Canada.
The good news is that we are smoking these folks out and we yet to have a nominated candidate. That means only one thing; They are spooked! And that's terrific news.
Best,
Dan
