Earlier, we reported provincial New Democrat leader Carole James's chief of staff Ian Reid would be taking an extended leave of absence to treat an ongoing health condition. So who's going to replace him? Well, the answer the leader's communication director Jim Rutkowski, who begins his duties on August 1. This, according to an email distributed to caucus members by Ms. James. The following is a complete copy.
As you know, my Chief of Staff, Ian Reid, is taking an extended medical leave. Ian has made an enormous contribution to my office and to our caucus. He will be greatly missed. Please join me in offering Ian our sincere gratitude and in wishing him well.
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Rutkowski as my new Chief of Staff. Jim brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the job. He has served the New Democrats in many roles, both in government and in opposition, most recently as my Communications Director. Please join me in welcoming Jim in his new role. Jim starts his new duties on August 1st.
I am also very pleased to announce that Kate Van Meer-Mass is joining my office as my Executive Assistant. Most recently, Kate served as David Chudnovsky's Constituency Assistant. We look forward to the energy, enthusiasm and experience that Kate will bring to her new role. She begins work on August 10th.
