Shovel ready?

Carrier Sekani Tribal Council Tribal Chief David Luggi has taken his opposition to the proposed Recognition and Reconciliation Act online. On June 4, he setup a Facebook page for those who want to "bury this proposal." And, as of publication time, that page has attracted 230 members.

Mr. Luggi recently told a First Nations Leadership Council regional meeting he was opposed to the act because it will weaken aboriginal title rights. "Uncertainty is a positive for First Nations," he was quoted by Opinion 250 as saying. "It is our power, it is our currency. We shall not allow BC to hi-jack our rights and title; we will continue to be vigilant for our children in a real way."
