A doctor in the house?

The former president of the British Columbia Medical Association wants to run for the provincial Liberals in the upcoming Vancouver-Fairview by-election, Public Eye has learned. In an email sent to party members, Vancouver-Fairview riding association president Jesse McLinton writes Margaret MacDiarmid is "inviting people to meet her on Thursday between 5:30 to 8:00" at the home of her friend Alexandra Tchermenska as part of her bid to seek the nomination. Finance minister Colin Hansen will be in attendance. The following is an edited copy of that invitation.

Hi All,

Dr. Margaret MacDiarmid will be seeking the BCLiberal nomination in Vancouver-Fairview.

She is inviting people to meet her on Thursday between 5:30 to 8:00 PM at the home of her friend, Dr. Alexandra Tcheremenska.

Hmmm.. If she loses she could become another overpaid gov consultant with MCF to go 'visit' people in their homes and at hospitals to 'encourage' them to come back to work.

I just hope she won't have any ethical problems strong arming overstressed demoralized staff to sign away their rights to keeping their health records confidential from managers.

There could even be a perk of travel if ill people decide to return to family outside the province to recoup! Sweet.
