Earlier, we reported former New Westminster-Coquitlam federal New Democrat candidate Steve McClurg was thinking about running for the Liberals in that same riding. And it turns out he has now acted on those thoughts. Speaking with Public Eye this morning, Mr. McClurg confirmed he submitted his nomination papers to the green light committee on Tuesday. "Like I said to them, I'm most of the way there. I'm really interested in running. Let's talk some more next week." Meanwhile, in related news, some Liberals are wondering whether former Industrial, Wood and Allied Workers of Canada president David Haggard will be hoisting the Liberal flag in Nanaimo-Alberni. Mr. Haggard previously ran for the party in New Westminster-Coquitlam and Vancouver East.
I hope Steve McClurg can do for the Liberals what he did for the NDP in 2004.
I guess Steve was so impressed with Haggard when he left the NDP that he decided to follow suit. I am sure there are lots of quotes by McClurg about Haggard when they ran against each other that can now be thrown at him.
Maybe he will or, maybe he will win this one by 114 votes. The real question is why are so many New Democrats coming over the the Liberals?
"The real question is why are so many New Democrats coming over the the Liberals? "
The assimilation of the federal Liberals into the NDP collective is about to begin.
We are the NDP. Existence as you know it is over.
Lower your riding maps and surrender your campaign manuals. We will add your political and technological distinctiveness to our own.
Your political party as it has been is over.
From this time forward, Your party's culture will adapt to service us.
You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.
Unbelievable. Now I'm glad McClurg lost in 2004--otherwise, he might have done an Emerson and defected to the Liberals. Thank goodness the electors of New Westminster-Coquitlam were spared that fate!
There's always been a drift back and forth depending upon the cycle of governments. While Jack Layton may be comfortable seeing no progress for First Nations, no real childcare options and environmental gains only by force, other Canadians see some rebirth and new hope in the Grits. Of course, if you persist on dancing on the ol' 'They steal our ideas' storyline, then I guess you really don't care for progress at all.
And Haggard in Port Alberni sounds like a good fit.
Because you either want a Harper government, or you don't.
The NDP is just another politcal party, not a sacred institution.
Powers that be in the NDP pushed Steve out after he proved the party could win in New Westminster-Coquitlam, and now they want to whine because he didn't curl up in a corner and disappear.
While Jack Layton may be comfortable seeing no progress for First Nations, no real childcare options and environmental gains only by force, other Canadians see some rebirth and new hope in the Grits. ...
And Haggard in Port Alberni sounds like a good fit.
Here is a stock, standard emission from the Liberal War Room, posted by burlivespipe. Thanks, Burl. I have never heard this piece of spin before! LOL!
Perhaps you could explain what you mean by the use of the term "force" in relation to environmental legislation?
"While Jack Layton may be comfortable seeing no progress for First Nations, no real childcare options and environmental gains only by force, other Canadians see some rebirth and new hope in the Grits. ..."
Here we go again..
Don't you know Budd? After 13 years of LIEberal LIES, Canadians like you and I were supposed to have believed them that time around. Last election they REALLY REALLY meant it.
But alas, that pesky Jack ruined it for everyone.
Don't you LIEberals know nobody believes you anymore. Fool us once shame on you, fool us for 13 years, shame on us indeed.
