It seems would-be parliamentarian Cindy Grauer's federal Liberal nomination campaign in Vancouver Quadra has attracted two prominent supporters. Ms. Grauer's campaign will soon announce that former senator Jack Austin and Vancouver park board commissioner Heather Holden are going to be co-chairing that campaign.
With Jack Austin on board it will be interesting to see who else in the Liberal establishment is with him in supporting Cindy...
Good work as always Holman!
Soooooo, let's translate for kids in the class who will eventually have to endure the Murray mob who will be up to trash this posting (read: those who will attempt to minimize a HUGE endorsement by Sen. Austin--one of B.C.'s best ever)......
Heather Holden, she of the smile that lights up an entire Vegas city block (and with a brain to match that firepower), is married to Doug Leung, who more than ably ran Owen's campaigns, and has a ton of respect throughout Liberal land--appropriately.
How many degrees of separation would you like here? Owenites move to Cindy, and Joyce is left to garner votes from where? The cold, that's where....
If there is one thing I have to say about the Grits...you guys really know how to go down--faster than Fergie!
...you always did have the more fun conventions though.
Cindy is so going to spank Joyce Murray that she won't be able to sit down until the mortgage on her 1.4 million dollar home is paid off
The establishment indeed.
Can I just repeat a couple of my earlier questions? Is Grauer a descendant of Dal Grauer of the BC Electric Company? Why do all the Liberal insider threads have such a sophomoric tone to them (eg "Cindy is so going to spank Joyce Murray that she won't be able to sit down")?
I would like to point out Cindy worked in Austins office, of course he'll endorse her. Also, I hardly call Taylor H.T. Briggs a big endorsement, he has more titles then actual support.
As far as I can see, Joyce has more endorsements.
Last I heard Taylor Briggs commands 10x the support of any other Young Liberal in the riding... and is not to be underestimated with his compadres in tow.
Insiders say the endorsements will be rolling out awfully soon..
Thanks for the heads up Sean!
Who said anything about Taylor Briggs being on this campaign, I heard that he was with Catherine Evans. The real question is where is Braeden Caley, maybe he can move some of his votes from Richmond to become Quadra residents. Regardless, Cindy is will take this one unless a big boy decides to play ball in Quadra.
Braeden is Joyce's communications director.
Braeden Caley can't pull votes, the only person who stands a chance at saving this one for Joyce is Raymond Chan. He's endorsed her on her website and has roots in the Chinese community, but I get the feeling if Joyce Murray wins Quadra on the back of hundreds of voters who have not been engaged in the Liberal scene, we might as well lock up the first Conservative Cabinet Minister for Quadra in a while. I think that Minister of Indian Affairs Rick Peterson sounds nice, or does Minister of Western Economic Diversification fit Deborah Meredith.
Taylor Briggs is Cindy Grauer's Youth co-chair... as per another post on this website and a press release from the Grauer campaign sent out today.
A little birdy told me that the other youth co-chair may be a Gibson...
Things heat up indeed.
"Regardless,
Cindy is will take this one unless a big boy decides to play ball in Quadra."
With the Liberal gender parity policy, only a big GIRL will be allowed to play ball in Quadra.
Joyce Murray is a big GIRL you are right, but she cannot and will not win this nomination based on her 'roots' in the community. She needs a hired gun. I'm betting that Raymond Chan might want to play in the Quadra sandbox putting off a lot lifelong dedicated party members in the most active liberal riding in the province. Watch for fireworks in this one!
If the Liberal Party knows what's good for itself and the riding then Raymond Chan and his perennial opponent in that demographic should be kept out of involvement in this nomination race...
But then, the Liberals only sometimes know what's good for themselves...
