Bud out

Earlier, we reported former British Columbia Marijuana Party general counsel and campaign manager Kirk Tousaw was considering running for the federal New Democrat nomination in Vancouver Quadra. But it looks like he's failed in that bid. One of our astute readers tell us University of British Columbia student Becca Coad beat Mr. Tousaw during yesterday's cranberry juice-fueled nomination meeting at St. James Community Square - 47 votes to 17, according to an unconfirmed count. Meanwhile, in related news, Burnaby-New Westminster Conservative candidate Ryan Warawa is reporting Yonah Martin won the Tory nomination in New Westminster-Coquitlam.

Pot smoker vs socialist student, I am sure that is exactly the kind of MP the local constituents want.

Ryan Warawa = Babawa Wawawa

How many times do the Conservatives need a kick in the arse? You do not run ultra-right wingers unless you want another minority. You find a way, as Mulroney did, as Bennett did, and keep them in the tent but at the periphery. Gossip columnists notwithstanding, sanctimonious bully-pulpiteers will allow the power of a majority to guarantee that it would be only one term.

What a pity.

"How many times do the Conservatives need a kick in the arse? You do not run ultra-right wingers unless you want another minority."

True, but Ryan wouldn't get far with his alleged personal agenda if he has one with a majority of middle of the road Conservative caucus members.

But the same rule goes for the NDP. You don't
elect ultra-left wingers.

For the federal Liberals? I guess the rule is
for us, you don't elect empty helmets.

I'd take either over what Quadra is about to be presented from the Liberals: a recycled failed cabinet minister who makes Stephen Owen look charismatic. I'm sure her buying of a $1.4 million house will look real good as she promotes Dion's brand of social justice to all the apt. and basement suite renters in the riding.

Save Quadra David Emerson, and make the election interesting!

Vancouver Kid, love you blog btw, shall Joyce Murray win the nomination race for federal liberals, as many conservatives are praying for, anyone from the conservative party would walk over her.

David Emerson is against traditional marriage though which puts him on the far left of conservatives with Peter McKay. I dont think that'll bode well. However, with the wind blowing in favor of a tory majority government, I guess conservatives wont really mind to have David hopping on the train. He will be the perfect symbolic post to retain those leftist votes for the party.

FHK, you're going off the deep end again. Emmerson is not agaist traditional marraige.

Mackay voted for motion as well.

As opposed to whom, the right wing religious nuts who focus more on rescinding the rights of same sex people to marry than on more important issues such as economics and the environment?

The right wing religious nuts who turn off the
majority vote, which is the middle of the road
conservative?

FHK, the train has left the station.

Ride a 10 speed bike if you want to catch up.

1. David Emerson is against traditional marriage, if you dont even know this, then you should hop on you grandma's scooter and start chasing the train.

2. Religious nuts, what religious nuts? When has the same sex marriage issue ever a "religious issue. Do you even know that there are pro-gay pastor MP within NDP that voted against traditional marriage as well? That is the moral decision they choose. If you think Christians are the only ones against it, then against, you should start taking those scooter lessons.

3. I would think that it will serve Vancouver Kingsway better if David Emerson decides to run in the riding that he lives. He was only there when Mr. Dippers decided to appoint candidates across BC as if there is no tommorow, alot of good it turns out. But again, in a tory majority, there will always be a space for those on the left. There are a lot of log cabin Republican that supported George W. Bush. Harper is even more appealing to those on the left, I just hope he wont stretch this too far.

Didn't Ryan Warawa volunteer for Jamie Lee Hamilton's council campaign in 2005? Only someone who's incompetent would think that a Tory who campaigned for a transgendered candidate is a "ultra-right winger".
