Non-Partisan Association directors are putting on their talent scout caps. On Wednesday evening, they passed a resolution to strike a committee to recruit candidates for the upcoming board elections - scheduled for April 25. There were also some - how shall we put this - spirited discussions about the possibility a board-endorsed slate. However, it's likely the board will only act on those discussions if it becomes apparent there may be a repeat of last year's divisive slate-organizing activities. But, really, who would do such a thing?
The big question this weekend - who is Anna Lilly's replacement? Conservative or Liberal? I'm betting on Conservative - it's time for Metcalfe to flex some muscle in there.
And congrats to whoever chose John Reynolds for heading up Sam's drug substitute program. He was a tireless advocate of championing innovative drug policies while representing West Van - like substituing drugs for jail.
About Alex The T (no relation to Mr. "T"). Alex
will grunt and snort he doesn't need it, but
heck why not?
The NPA is getting boring. Too many people standing around trying to look important.

I think Metcalfe has already flexed some muscle. His guy George Higgins is already at the helm of Sullivan's re-election team.
As for who will replace Lilly...at least the question is about whether it is going to be a liberal or conservative...unlike Vancouver Kid's poor excuse for a party which is filled with old NDP cabinet ministers, NDP hacks and flacks and union activists. I still don't understand why big developers, the gambling guys and the bar and pub owners are funding Vision-less...don't they know the BC Federation of Labour is running this party?

This is one step ahead of some NDP elected officials who end up in jail I guess? Give Sullivan credit. He's got Rix (a big federal Liberal) and Reynolds on board. If Allen Garr is right...he's about to announce a big time NDP. I wonder what the apologist for Vision-less Vancouver will say then? Hmmm...can't wait for that.
So much anger, my friend, so much anger. Maybe you can ask your friend Sam to score you some drug substitutes to help chill out a bit.
I'll be more than happy to give Sullivan credit if he would simply bring his drug policy to council for debate instead of running it out of his office. Sam's got 12th and Cambie confused with the White House.
Getting Reynolds on board is all part of the painfully obvious plan that is going on: Sam gets drug substitutes and Harper gets to close down InSite.
And you're right, Vision is completely run by big labour, which is why Jinny Sims spoke at the last Vision fundraiser. Oh wait, that was COPE.
And how come no comment about your favorite internet gambler funding Sam's project?
Kid,
You are way too nice to be lowering your game by dealing with an obliviot like Eugene.
Stop wasting time worrying about Carrot Top Splicer as he's just a Sam sycophant, who is very badly informed. Okay there Spliced Top, any other entertaining nuggets for us? You don't know Sam as well as you think.....the REAL story here is the last line..."who would do such a thing".(READ: run a slate against returning Directors)
It's one thing to organize a slate to fill about-to-become vacancies, where your incumbent Boardmates are departing.....but fixing to bounce a successful ex-President with two generations of dedicated NPA pedigree, the current President, who's done a masterful job, the best money manager the NPA has probably ever had, a very useful, campaign utility expert and some very hard-working conduits to the Asian community.....
Bet on a follow-up story. Then I'll reveal Splicer, just for you Kid. Stay warm up there on the mountain.
