Compare and contrast

Paul Brar wants to be the federal Conservative candidate in Newton-North Delta in the next election. But has he supported incumbent Liberal parliamentarian Sukh Dhaliwal during past campaigns? In an interview with Public Eye, Mr. Dhaliwal described Mr. Brar as having been a "very good friend" and a "strong supporter." Continued the MP, "He helped me in my nomination and my elections. He was there everyday." Mr. Brar, though, says something different.

Asked yesterday morning whether he had been involved with the MP's past nomination or election campaigns, Brar said, "No, not at all." Then, when we spoke to him later that day, Mr. Brar said "I don’t remember actually" if he supported Dhaliwal in 2004. But "in the last election, I didn't support him at all" - having spent most of the 2005 campaign in Conservative candidate Phil Eidsvik's office.

How can you not remember what you did in 2004 and want to be an MP?

Nevermind Sukh Dhaliwal - if Paul Brar wants to win this nomination unscathed, and emerge with shot at actually being competitive against Sukh, he needs to get some professional communications help. And quick!

Why do the Conservatives in effort to pander to the ethnic vote keep forgetting about their Reform roots.

Heather Stillwell is the REAL Conservative candidate in this race

"Why do the Conservatives in effort to pander to the ethnic vote keep forgetting about their Reform roots."

Simply because the Reform roots you speak of
are the policies of the fundamentalist Christian
element that are outdated and in one aspect can be said to be very discriminatory. The CPC would
never win government if those roots were dominant in the party. It was tried but didn't work.

"Heather Stillwell is the REAL Conservative candidate in this race"

yea right as in REAL Women? WOnder why she didn't keep on with the Christian Hertiage Party?

http://www.realwomenca.com/

She'salso relying on support for the Pro-Life
groups.

Too bad she just doesn't dump those links and focus on economic development and the environment,
health and education like everyone else.

1:6? Pretty long odds for her to win. She won't make it.

Better odds in playing Scratch and Win.

Liberals have failed badly in last 13 years of their Goverment and Sukh Dhaliwal is one of their backbencher MP,who never voiced any of issues concerning Newton- North Delta riding and he has got enough of opposition from his own supporters,I think ,he should just forget about getting this seat, irrespecive of, whoever wins the conservative nomination,I think paul brar do have community support and resources to get this seat back from Liberals, good luck sukh!!!!!!!!!

I wonder of "john" is that Paul Brar's current communications advisor.

I am not a technical guy but there has to be some magic in making this happen. I just typed the url www.paulbrar.com into my browser and got one heck of a shock. (I am not making this up). Candidates are supposed to stay away from the party logo and all links to the party until after they win the nomination. Sean I hope you are the first to see this. Heads have to roll.

He ain't. Saw it myself.

The rule states a prohibition in using the party logo. It says nothing about linking to the party's website.

Paul Brar dot com is programmed to redirect to the Party's website upon arrival. Nothing wrong with that.

The redirction? That's done at the server level, not unusual. Handled by a website control panel
accessible to the domain holder. Just a line on
the control option.

Any of the other nomination candidates could have easily done the same thing.

What isn't allowed is a distinctive candidate website with the party logo stuck on it.

Ummmm...
Hasn't vancouver had enough with fake conservatives? Paul Brar is just another opportunistic operative. I am voting for the real conservtive, not another failed liberal.

Welcome to the race David Emerson Lite. Whats with all the Liberals leaving their party? Hope conservatives can see through this pathetic sham.

Hey Charlie

That settles the website thing. Can someone explain Paul's Business card that Jordan Bateman had on langleypolitics.com last week. It features a life size image of the ex liberal supporter now tory right next to the logo of the conservative party. Check it out at http://www.langleypolitics.com
scroll down to Surrey's a mess.

Either way, I'd have to say that if this guy can't even stay on message from morning to afternoon, why would I trust him to represent me? If he truly felt he had changed his ways from Liberal to Conservative, he would have said so from the start...it's not like the transition hasn't been made before. It smacks a little bit of opportunism to me. Dhaliwal's not doing too bad now that he has been made critic for Western economic diversification....pretty good for a new guy coming into Parliament in opposition and not to mention he was one of only a handful of new Liberal MPs this time around.
