The fedora advantage

Here's some news that should surprise no one: Saanich-Gulf Islands federal Liberal fixture Kit Spence will be running for the party nomination in that riding. In an interview with your humble organ, Mr. Spence - a political party development expert with the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs - said "I've already told everybody I intend to run. I've spoken to the new campaign co-chairs (Pam McDonald and Bruce Young). I spoke to the leader (Stephane Dion) when he was here and expressed my interest. And the riding association has done an extensive search. And so far, I'm the only one who has definitively committed to this." Mr. Spence, who is well-known hat lover, had considered but decided against seeking that nomination prior to the last election.

No supply side politics here, nope, uh uh.

If the Grits don't have some real quality candidates pony up to the trough soon...oops, sorry, did I say trough?

I can't think of the current Grits, with a dingbat flip-flopper as leader, as anything other than apologists for those previously at the public trough just aching to get at the treasury once more.....and about thirty million others won't forget either.

The only way this crew gets back in is if Harper pulls a Sullivan or some how Marrisen's utility belt malfunctions before he's out of the Batcave(not likely) and Young's cape happens to get lined with Kryptonite (equally unlikely).

Another minority Conservative government, unless.....

Mr Tsakumis, can I ask you to translate your last post? I really don't understand it.

"Harper pulls a Sullivan"? "Marissen's utility belt"? "Batcave ... Kryptonite"? I have a feeling you're being just a bit too inventive here, and are mixing metaphors waaay too much.

Just forget what the fellow Tsakumis is babbling about. What the Mayor of Vancouver( who is there because a ringer with a name similar to the mayor's oponent got him there) has anything to do with the possible candidate is beyond me.. I guess he is rambling on about one of the insiders for the Liberals. As for the rest of his stuff, I usually just ignore his ramblings.People who try to include every name they can spell are usually trying to show how important and in the inner circle they believe they are.

I always knew that one day we'd see Mr. Spence running fedorally.

Gosh...I expected the Boo Birds, but not the stupid ones, and Budd, you're hardly stupid...

Pulling a "Sullivan" is now roundly referred to as being a politician who, post win, performs badly.....in this case, Harper would need to completely collapse, (since he has done an admirable job as PM with obvious problems, can't please everyone)to go deep enough and hit the plankton. like Shammy.

My comments about Marissen and Young are consistent with others I have made in the past. Without people like that in the Grit camp, the Tories get a majority. Seasoned and highly capable, they wouldn't let that happen. Sorry you didn't like the 'super hero' reference, in this case, it's apropos.

As for 'translated', oh forget it.....apparently everything is beyond him.

Just playing with ya pal...back into the water you go...to small for my appetite--then again, who am I kidding...

Good to see 'translated' cannot translate anything except a dink wink. Tsakumis' comment took you for a ride. Wasn't it obvious that's where he was going? I guess the truth hurts. Zeus is loose again. You had me smiling Alex.

So he speaks to the leader I see, which row in the back did Dion tell him to sit on again?

The MP for the riding is not the one in 04 or 06 anymore, it is now a cabinet minister, and Dion will have no chance taking down any of the tory incumbents in Western Canada.
