Wouldn't this be the perfect moment to explain to Stephane Dion that there's something about his past and present B.C. campaign team which he really ought to know?

Or is it a foregone conclusion that he already knew?

Yes, someone should definitely tell Stephane Dion that the BC campaign team ran the most successful campaign in country last election. He's very lucky.

Good thought!

He should be told. Told that his BC campaign team went up in seat counts when everyone in the country went down. Be told that his BC campaign team went up in percentage vote and brought a lot more ridings into play for the Liberal Party. Someone should sing it from the hills, "Dion you BC campaign team knows how to elect liberals in BC, isn't that just awful!"

Yea...if you call success 9 of 36 seats in BC a great campaign. 25% of the seats looks really impressive (insert sarcasm here).

Keep your expectations low Liberals. You guys have been promising a breakthrough in BC isince the Jurassic, with the same bunch running the show.

Actually the Liberal percentage of the popular vote dropped in 2006 in BC. The Liberals were just fortunate that strategic voters in swing ridings went Liberal. But to say Dion's team is fantastic seems a strech. These guys couldn't even get Christy Clark the NPA nomination against Sullivan's random collection of supporters.

Maybe somebody should also tell him that some members of his BC campaign team forgot to tell people until it was reported in the media that the rcmp showed up at party hq looking for documents...

Seems to me like a Liberal leader who really cared about "stopping Stephen Harper neo-conservative ideology" so much would tell his BC campaign team to stick to the seats in well-heeled areas they hold and leave the Dippers to fight the Harpercrites in the rest the province.

But I fear Dion will parrot more of the strategic voting bullshit and keep PMSH in office, sigh!

Polio,

That is absurd. Why would the party with 102 seats step aside for the party with 29?

Besides Jack Layton seems to prefer a Harper government.

The last time Libs won 8 seats in BC was 1974.
Say what you like, but the last two campaigns in BC have been the best showing for the Libs in 30 years.

2004 - 8 seats
2006 - 9 seats

Geez an increase of 200% over the previous election.

Talk about a Red Tide.

Who woulda thunk that?

What is truly puzzilng is the BC team that brought Dion to the Liberal Throne will now have to somehow come to terms with the three pillar strategy he dragged along with him.

The three pillars will get Dion the votes he requires in BC regardless of strategic voting as long as he makes sure his BC Team hides behind those pillars from now until election time.

After he is elected PM they can come out as the neo con wannabes they are which is the liberal norm. Campaign on the issues that matter to the people just long to gain power then hand it the corporate hacks that are always behind the scene.

Don't worry, be happy - Paul Martin's team is gonna bring BC and Canada Social Justice with Dion,

yea and Santa Clause is going be the guy who delivers it!

BC is a very difficult province for the federal Liberals. In both 2004 and 2006, all of the commentariat said that it was going to be a fight between the NDP and the Tories, and that the Liberals would be squeezed out. It didn't happen. in fact, 9 seats is the second best number the Liberals have had since BC joined Confederation. (the best being 16 under Trudeaumania).

During the next election, the best the Liberals can do is win 3 or 4 more seats tops. That would be a huge accomplishment. But watch for the NDP picking up even more seats because outside of Vancouver and the South Island, more and more seats will go NDP. The Tories will fall to third place because Stephen Harper just doesn't understand what British Columbians are looking for.

Harper is screwing BC with the Senate reform proposal that does not address BC's woeful inequity. Harper and Stockwell Day do not even believe in global warming. Harper continues to cozy up to the United States. These are just a few things that wiil kill them in the next election.
