Citizen Sam, the film documenting Sam Sullivan successful bid to become Vancouver's mayor, hasn't exactly been a public relations coup for the former Non-Partisan Association councillor. Last month, for example, The Vancouver Sun's Doug Ward published a front page story on the controversial contents of that film, such as this quote from the mayor: "I like the fact that people underestimate me. You know, they pat me on the head and then I rip their throat out." So it may come as a surprise to some, that Mayor Sullivan and his supporters and staff attended a screening of the film earlier this evening at Rainmaker Entertainment Group Ltd.'s Vancouver studio. But as fascinating as it would have been to see the expressions on their faces during that screening, we would have been more interested in listening to the conversation at the Opus Hotel - where they gathered before heading to the theatre.

Sam: "What's the big deal? All I said was that I'd rip Jim Green's throat out. C'mon, don't they know who I am? I'm the Olympic Mayor! I waved the flag!"
D. Fontaine: "Damn right you did. If I had it my way you'd wave it at the start of every council meeting. Speaking of which, there's a problem. Only Sharon Townsend and Bruce Allen like Project Civil city."
Sam: "What is wrong with this city? Don't they know I set up a website...with a survery....with multiple choice selections? That civil shiznat is as scientific as it comes."
Fontaine: "Look, just lay off the Scotch and stop comparing your opponents to rodents, and we'll be fine. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to write more council talking points for Elizabeth and BC."
Maybe Sam Sullivan's friends were entertained with the results of the secret polling I uncovered in 24 hours last week!

should be interesting Sam beating up Jim Green. In your dreams Sam. Jim Green worked on the downtown east side for years for the little guys and gals. The present mayor was well know to do not much of aything on council and now it appears somebody who backed him to keep the left from running things are having second thoughts. He talks a big game but doesn't deliver much of anyhting as far as I can see. Just the sort of guy the NPA likes. he was know for buying and allowing addicts to shoot up in his van. maybe he learned to do the same on himself as he sure is talking stupid.
