Premier Gordon Campbell was showing his usual respect for the press gallery today. As early as last Wednesday, gallery members had requested comment from the premier on the Harper administration's motion recognizing the "Quebecois as a nation within a united Canada." But it seems he didn't want to talk to them about that issue. Instead, the premier choose to articulate his position - that the federal government should also recognize Canada's aboriginals as a nation - by releasing an opinion-editorial to the The Globe and Mail and the National Post. Needless to say, the legislative press pack was less than enthusiastic about the West Annex's communications strategy.
The Premier also shows his complete lack of respect for ALL British Columbians by not showing up for work in Victoria today. Unable to completely shut down the People's House, Campbell plays hookey. If you can't stand the heat, Mr Campbell, offer your resignation!
Gordo was at the First Nations Summit meeting. No way was he going to show up and get his nose rubbed in the stuff he caused to happen. DeJong went on the defensive of course. The opposition laid into him quite effectively in Hansard. But how many of us read Hansard. A leader leads, and doesn't hide somewhere else. Gordo spends time covering his own behind, and to hell with the kids in care in BC. Or for the folks who pay his wages.
Gordon Campbell nominating First Nations for nationhood is the absolute pinnacle of heartless hypocrisy.
The b*****d won't do anything positive for First Nations but he grandstands for something -- on their behalf, he says -- which in reality could create squabbles and disquiet for another hundred years.
Lightning should strike this cruel creature.
“A leader leads” says DL. Would that be like when Carole James ran off to hide in Saskatchewan during the pay raise fiasco? or when she sold everyone out behind their backs from her cell phone ?
At least Campbell has an aboriginal health plan to show for his efforts, I don’t recall the NDP ever announcing exactly what Carole James was officially doing when she was cowering out in Saskatchewan.
Kevin Larsen, don't try to change the subject or we'll think you're running scared.
This story is about Premier Campbell and his marvelous conversion to promoting First Nations as a nation.
What do you think of THAT? And his absence from the Legislature?
or the fact that in 2001, the Liberals insisted
on a set Fall Schedule.
Their excuse? "The NDP didn't have fall sessions either."
So it comes down to the fact that the NDP didn't
have fall sittings, so suddenly the BC Liberals
don't need have those either.
"Would that be like when Carole James ran off to hide in Saskatchewan during the pay raise fiasco? or when she sold everyone out behind their backs from her cell phone ?"
Kevin, your grotesque partisanship is really kind of funny. You ought to do something about that if you really want to help the Liberals instead of making them look a little stupid.
Maybe Kevin has a job connected to the Liberals, and wanted more cash. James changed her mind on the pay event. Its called second thought. she got a lot of flack for doing so. WAC Bennett was quite proud of the fact he changed his, and often. Gordon changed his quite a bit from being dead against treaties, went to court against the Nisga Treaty. drooped the case when he became government, had a referendum which upset a lot of folks. Now he is telling us the first nations people should be considered a nation. So just what does the name First Nations mean now? He showed up at a meeting yesterday because he didn't have the gonads to enter the house to see something he removed for a cash saving, be reinstated because he got so much flack and Ted Hughes slammed him for doing so. I wont mention the numerous times Gordo made big changes from what he claimed he wouldn't do, but did. Not enough room on the page.
