When last we spoke with Allan De Genova, the parks board commissioner said he would be "coming out" at the end of October with a "message" concerning his political future. As our astute readers may know, that deadline passed without an announcement. And now the chattering classes anxiously await news as to whether Mr. De Genova will be rejoining the Non-Partisan Association caucus - which he was suspended from earlier this year - or taking out a Vision Vancouver membership. But it turns out that wait is almost over. In an interview with Public Eye, Mr. De Genova said on November 20 he will be holding a morning news conference at the Terminal City Club where Vancouverties will find out "where I was, where I am and where I'm going." The commissioner added "there will be a large turn-out of people from all of the communities to hear my announcement."
The ubiquitous Jamie Lee Hamilton's entertainment company, TRICIA FOXX ENTERTAINMENT, presents the LEGENDS Illusion Show every Friday in Historic Chinatown at the old Mings Showroom. Two shows nightly at 10:15pm and midnight.
With an all DIVA review, maybe this would have been a more appropriate place from which Al DivaNova could have made his announcement.
Yup, that's Al, man of the people, voice of the downtrodden, defender of the little guy, the average Joe.....cough, spit, choke...
Where else would such a vital player in Vancouver's civic theatre of the absurd "come out" (as he likes to put it)? You guessed it: from one of the most prestigious and expensive addresses in the country, at a multi-million dollar facility, that houses one of the most exclusive clubs in Canadian history.
Like the spoilt child with a behavioral problem who didn't get his way (Heather Holden was made Parks Board Chair), he will now finally bolt the NPA sandbox that he has "quietly" disrupted for years. And you can bet the Vision Vancouver smoke and mirrors platoon will be out in full force, telling the world of how there is this mass exodus from the NPA, blah, blah, blah, horse manure...
Brilliant.
If Vision Vancouver really wants government next time around, they have to do better than attracting a politcal eunuch, who's obvious pretension rivals only that celebrated by a televangelist.
As an opposer of the NPA, I love how the man has kept this story going. The bleeding never stops for Sam and co.
As a side note, "where I was, where I am, and where I'm going" should be De Genova's campaign slogan. It sounds like the name of Oprah's memoirs.
"NPA, blah, blah, blah, horse manure."
Well, A.G. TSakumis, you've finally got something right, but I doubt if Vision Vancouver is in much need of your advice.
Better you save it for that pal of yours, Sleepy Sam, who appears to have lost his way in the Cambie/12 St. area.
Alex has a good one in Al DivaNova alright!
But the NPA - which Alex has also sent up - will still be sorry if he's gone.
